601 - Construction of an accommodation centre for children in Anderlecht

The combination of wood and curved shapes: a sustainable reception area designed for the future

This ambitious project involved the construction of a residential centre for children with multiple disabilities. Constructed from CLT solid wood, the building is characterised by its curved, atypical forms.

Designed to meet the specific needs of children and their carers, the centre is organised around four self-contained living units. These units include areas dedicated to activities and rest, and share fully equipped care areas accessible to all.

Thanks to the use of CLT timber, this building embodies a natural architecture, conveying serenity and protection. This structural choice also contributes to a reduced environmental impact, in harmony with the project's human and sustainable values.

As Alain Verriest, Chairman of the CREB Board of Directors, pointed out: "Natural architecture that expresses serenity, the image of a welcoming shelter and the idea of protection: that's exactly what this new centre offers.
