A mirrored house: rising above the landscape
In Grez-Doiceau, the construction of this detached house forms part of a landscape in which water becomes an extension of the architecture. Next to the house, the creation of a pond – an integral part of the project – offers a second perspective: the built forms are reflected on its surface, thereby extending the architecture into the landscape.
The project required the installation of several structural elements to accommodate the varying levels of the site: the foundations for the house, the carport and the terraces, the swimming pool basin, and the retaining walls. Our stability analysis therefore guided the construction process in relation to the ground conditions and the topography of the site.
Blending architecture, topography and landscape, the project creates a harmonious whole in which the building and its reflection seem to echo one another. A subtle structural intervention, designed to ensure the house blends seamlessly into its surroundings.
