1800 – Conversion of a former car park into an urban micro-farm and renovation of residential blocks

When the city regenerates: revitalising existing areas for a vibrant transition

Located in Ixelles, this project involves the refurbishment of two buildings which originally comprised four flats, a repair workshop on the ground floor and a 22-space car park situated within the block. The project aims to transform this diverse complex into a building comprising eight flats, whilst incorporating a space dedicated to urban agriculture on the ground floor.

Beyond increasing residential capacity, the project forms part of a broader approach focused on enhancing the urban fabric and redeveloping under-utilised built-up areas. The redevelopment of this site enables the creation of a mixed-use, multi-purpose regeneration project, addressing contemporary challenges relating to sustainable development and the sensible redevelopment of spaces.

For our structural engineering team, this transformation involves adapting existing structures to their new uses, whilst ensuring their long-term durability and compliance with current requirements. The project requires a detailed analysis of the building in consultation with the architects in order to seamlessly integrate the new developments into a dense urban setting.

Currently under construction, completion is scheduled for 2027.
